The Child And The Flower.

A child sat weeping by a flower,
Its petals fallen, sere and dead,
And in that sad and mournful hour,
The tears fell from his drooping head.
"O, flower, why art thou faded so?"
He cried, "and why will you not bloom?"
"Alas!" the tiny flower replied,
"I fade because my time has come."
