The children had an old canary. They kept (_guardar_) it in a cage
because it was afraid of the cats. One morning the canary flew out of
its cage. It stayed in the garden a long time and the children watched
it from the porch. Platero was also in the garden playing with a
butterfly. In the afternoon the canary returned to the cage. The
children clapped their hands with joy, and even Platero and Diana were
glad to see the canary in its cage again.
