Kirkstone Pass

Kirkstone Pass, a summit high,
Where clouds do often rest,
And eagles soar across the sky,
Upon the mountain's crest.
From Penrith's vale, a winding road,
Ascends the rugged steep,
And bears its burden, and its load,
While weary travelers creep.
But oh, the view, when gained the height!
A spectacle sublime!
Of mountain, lake, and valley bright,
A triumph over time.
