The Falling Leaf

by Sara Teasdale · 1869 · Life & Death
A single leaf, from autumn's tree,
Doth gently fall, a silent sign,
Of change that comes to you and me,
As life's brief seasons intertwine.
It dances down on breezes light,
A fragile thing, of crimson hue,
Then rests upon the earth so white,
A fleeting beauty, fresh and new.
