The Wishing Gate

The Wishing Gate, upon the hill,
A place of ancient lore,
Where wishes whispered, standing still,
Were granted, and much more.
The traveler, with hopeful heart,
Would pause beside the way,
And bid his worldly cares depart,
And wish for brighter day.
And often, it is said, the wish,
Was granted, and in full,
As from the spirit's deepest dish,
The answer would soon pull.
