To M. H.

The pool in Rydal Upper Park,
Where waters calm did lie,
Reflected skies, both light and dark,
Beneath the passing eye.
And on its edge, a lady sat,
With$-(M. H.)- on her brow,
And thought of joys, both this and that,
That fate had disallow.
She gazed upon the placid scene,
And felt her sorrows cease,
And in that moment, peace serene,
Did bring her soul release.
